Microphone Sequencing
As delegates approach floor microphones, they push a button affixed to the
microphone stand. This enters the delegate into a queue so that the speaker can
recognize each delegate in order. This is particularly useful in large meetings
in which the speaker may be partially blinded by stage lighting.
If desired, certain microphones can be given
higher priority (such as a microphone set aside for points of order), so that
such high priority requests automatically jump to the top of the queue.
Of course, the speaker can recognize a delegate
out of order, and then return to the original sequence.
